Humans aren’t robots. That means that not everyone’s work rhythms and skills would be compatible with a typical 9-5 work schedule. Yes, working from 9 to 5 every day may allow one employee to achieve success. On the other hand, a conventional schedule can limit someone’s ability to use relevant skills such as creativity, innovation, or teamwork. Consider when you do your best work and figure out what kind of work schedule is best for you to do your job well. When are you most alert and creative? When do you feel the most energized?

Early in the morning, you will be more active and imaginative. If that’s the case, then get to work. If your best ideas come to you in the late evening hours, carve out a few hours of work time before bed.

  • Flexibility Boosts Productivity

Workplace flexibility is more than just a good perk or a positive feature of workplace culture. In reality, we have come to believe that flexibility is critical for both workers’ and businesses’ success. Consider a time in your life when you followed a strict, repetitive work schedule, whether or not by choice. Next, consider a time when you worked more hours than you wanted to in order to fulfill a challenging supervisor’s job demands.

How happy were you at that point in your life? And, be frank, how good were you at your job? Did you look forward to going to work every day, or did you hate it?

For one thing, several workers could choose to begin the day earlier or later than normal without the added stress of commuting to and from work.

Working 9 5 is a waste of time. It takes up the rest of your time while you’re awake. If that time does not make you happy, it is a big waste of your life.

  • Working from 9 to 5 is not a normal state for most of us. Sure, some people enjoy the routine of going to work and spending the next eight hours at a desk, but others often referred to as “creative” types,  can feel stifled and bogged down by this degree of routine.
  • Humans are not robots. We do not a plugin and continue to produce at the same pace for eight hours. Our energy fluctuates in peaks and valleys. Why not work when we’re most creative, rather than when a task needs it?
  • People were not created to sit in a cubicle. A cubicle is essentially a box in which you are placed. It’s a metaphor for living an inauthentic existence, where you can’t charge what you’re worth and aren’t recognized for your full worth.

The majority of these debates revolve around one presumption that people would rather be broke and happy than wealthy and unhappy. In this way, the job is held up as a mirror of your personality. Those who refuse to work a 9 to 5 are portrayed as more imaginative, adventurous, credible, noble, and self-improvement than the soulless salaryman who can never attain self-actualization and satisfaction.

How to Avoid Working 9 to 5?

If you define independence as having no boss, then here’s how to get it right away.

Following years of watching your parents drift through 50 years of the corporate grind, the mainstream of work 9 to 5 life balance was rooted in the minds of millennials. Millennials, unlike their parents, place a greater focus on work-life balance with a greater emphasis on ‘life.’ They want to be their own bosses and are gravitating towards freelancing, contractor work, and entrepreneurial careers.

Now is the time to make your strategy and then build your own lifestyle. You will always have to function, but you will be able to make your own rules. Here are a few ways to avoid working from 9 to 5:

Start your own business. It takes a lot of courage to become an entrepreneur. Do you know how to market a product or provide a service? Make a fun activity out of it. To get your company off the ground, you’ll likely work more than 40 hours a week, but that time will be spent on you.

Choose a one-of-a-kind career or a job that requires you to work outside. Non-desk positions abound. Look for a career that will keep you moving and out of the workplace. You will become a happier and healthier person as a result of it. People love seasonal jobs because they allow us to switch up our work schedules. You not only get to work cool jobs in the summer and winter, but you still get to enjoy your downtime. The majority of seasonal jobs include spending time outdoors and enjoying yourself.

Look for opportunities to work as a freelancer. Freelancers must seek out their own jobs (which is easier than ever online). You can also operate on your own time and from anywhere you want.

Telecommute. Telecommuting saves time and money for everybody. Many employers are willing to allow you to work from home. Persuade the employer to let you work from home.

Reduce the length of your workweek. – Try to work four 10-hour days instead of five 8-hour days. You’ll have an extra day to enjoy yourself.

Switch to part-time. Try working part-time instead of full-time. Although still earning a daily paycheck, you’ll have plenty of free time to explore your alternative career choices.

Make money on the internet. Launch an online store and sell your products. Make a living as an author. Thousands of people make a living online and profit from the benefits of having a “virtual workplace.”

Move Abroad.  Some countries are concerned with working as many hours as possible, while others are more relaxed. Find a country with a culture and work ethic that you can appreciate.
